Joe Bruns

Global Head Procurement Patient Access and Market Insights
Novartis Pharmaceuticals

Currently responsible for global category leadership in the areas of patient services, secondary market distribution (wholesalers and retail) and market research (including Health Economics and Outcomes Research) for all divisions across Novartis. Previously, Joe was the Global Oncology Head of Strategic Sourcing and Productivity responsible for the ongoing leadership of the Global Oncology Procurement team. This included developing and implementing the sourcing strategies of all indirect spend categories which included research and development, marketing, IT, and corporate spend categories. Additionally, he developed and implemented the overall Novartis Global Oncology productivity plan using Lean Sigma principles to simplify business processes across the organization. Prior to joining Novartis, Joe held various leadership roles during a 10-year career with GE Healthcare. Additionally, Joe was a Captain in the US Army.

He holds a Master Degree in Developmental and Cellular Biology and a Bachelor Degree in Biology from the American University, and an MBA from Babson College. Joe is also a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
